How to Be Prepared for your Lower Priced Trip to Europe

By Chuck R Stewart

This article will give suggestions on planning for a trip to Europe and some of the wonderful things you can find like religious statues and things you could also buy like beautifully carved Christmas pyramids from Germany.

Tourism all around the world is feeling the effects of the poor economy. Many people are saving their money rather than taking vacations. Because of this, there are fantastic deals for vacations outside of the country. There are 2 for 1 offers on just about every cruise line at the moment as well as low airfare prices to Europe. Although the dollar is not very strong in Europe right now, the cost for your basic travel expenses is so good that it will still end up being a bargain to go.

Once you have found the best bargains for your trip by either using a travel consultant or doing it yourself on the internet, you must have all of the necessary documents to travel out of the country. If you do not already own a passport or it has expired, this is imperative to plan ahead. Usually it can take up to six weeks for them to process and get your passport done so planning way in advance of leaving on your trip is important. You can go online to download the application for a passport. Then you can go to any national drug store chain to have your photos taken for the passport. Once you have received your passport, be certain you make 2 photo copies of it in addition to your birth certificates and your drivers license. You will need to take one of the copies with you in case your passport is lost or stolen while abroad. Keep one at home as well that could also be accessed by someone in the event all of your documentation is lost.

Packing for a trip to Europe is much easier than people think. The fewer things youput in your suitcase, the better. Many hotels in Europe are significantly smaller in room size, elevator size, etc and having a smaller bag will make it so much easier. Also, several areas in European countries are not too handicap friendly so lugging a great deal of luggage over cobblestone streets is a real possibility. Traveling by train in Europe is the best way to go from location to location. If you brought a huge suitcase, you will not be able to get on and off the train rapidly and will not have room to store it in the smaller overhead racks. One smaller roller suitcase that wouldbe sized for an overhead bin on a plane or backpack and one small carry on is optimal. Choose one basic color for all of your clothes that can mix and match and bring colorful scarves to change the look of an outfit.

Make time to see all of the wonderful sights. European architecture is magnificent especially the castle and cathedrals where beautiful religious statues are. Bring home a special gift that reminds you of your trip like a Christmas pyramid from Germany.
