Four Principles of SEO - Website Improvement

By Kathryn Hisley

Are you willing to make it easier for people to find your company online? May be you already know about Search Engine Optimization, but the variety of the possibilities seem so confusing.

How can you build a website which will get ranked and avoid long process of all SEO approaches and techniques? If thats what you want, keep reading to find four key principles, which you can use to get started.

The first one is always going to be focus. Is your niche specific enough to where you know exactly what kind of people are selling to? If not, then you can be assured that you are going to have a hard time making your site really stand out.

It might take some time, but it is in your interests to get specific on what is your proposition, as it will ensure your site will be noticed by your targeted audience.

Secondly, you should place your keywords exactly where search engines will be able to read them and to understand your website is relevant - headings, your images alt tags etc. If you want this to work, placing them only in content will not help.

Third, make sure that you have a strong call to action which will lead your visitors to click on to the next page from where they are. Google can actually tell what your click through rate is and considers your site to be more relevant if people are taking action once they get there. If you are unsure what kind of results you are getting then you need to install Google analytics right away.

Fourth, you need to make sure that you are linking to sites which are relevant and well known by the search engines. This means that you can have one thousand back links to just any site and still be behind a site which has fifty relevant links. The best way to build back links is to comment on other peoples blogs and to place articles on content delivery sites. Just make sure that you are connecting to relevant sites.

Try to implement these principles into practice and make sure none of them is missing. SEO is not a one day process and requires dedication and patience. Only then you will get your website ranked and will be generating more traffic and winning new clients.
