When I was a kid I really looked up to my dad. I thought he was the most intelligent man in the world. Maybe I feel this way because he was my dad but I still held he in high regard when it came to brain power. He had great ideas and I wanted to be just like him when I grew up.
My father was able to come uo with great ideas for inventions and one day wanted to have a home based business but things never worked. It was a shame that such a smart man wasn't able to get any of his ideas off the ground. There may have been a lot of reasons for this but I guess I'll never really know.
I think back to when dad was developing some great idea that would change the way people did something. My father would get all excited when he told my mom and I about what he was planning to do and my mom and I would get excited too. The only thing is that soon after that the enthusiasm would dissipate and dad would be back to square one.
As I grew and as the years went by I figured out some of the reasons why my dad wasn't able to fulfill his dream of owning his own home based business. I learned that while my dad had the joy and excitement that came with creating new contraptions, he didn't have the drive and faith it took to step out on a limb. I can't recall my dad ever really trying to sell his inventions to the marketplace.
Seeing what my dad did and didn't do has inspired me to take some different steps when it comes to running my own home based business. I have made a choice to go out and find success instead of waiting for it to come knock at my door.
With that said, from my father I learned that the difference between saying and doing can be blurred with excitement sometimes. When in doubt I feel that it is always best to do even if you risk falling on your face.
This is the price you pay when you want to run a successful home based business.
